To Register

  • Participating choirs must register online.
  • Early Registration ($60.00) deadline is January 25, 2019.
  • Late Registrations ($90.00) accepted January 16-January 31, 2019.
  • Changing room reservations for changing rooms are part of the registration process. Students in participating choirs are prohibited from changing their wardrobe in campus restrooms.
    • Reserved changing rooms will be available to choir members approximately 30 minutes before the ensemble’s scheduled warm up time.
    • Make a reservation by completing the Changing Room Reservation portion of the registration by January 25, 2019 (early registration), or January 26-January 31, 2019 (late registration).
      • To complete this part of the registration process you will need to know the number of men and women in your ensemble who will need space for a wardrobe change.
      • Please call the choral festival staff, 864.388.8323, if you have any questions regarding changing room reservations.
  • Meal reservations are part of the registration process.
    • Festival participants may eat at the Lander University Cafeteria (ONLY $6.00, including the salad and dessert bars!).
      • Choirs must make a single payment for all cafeteria meals, using a credit card or purchase order. See FAQ’s for more information about payment for meals.
      • Complete the Meal Reservation portion of the registration process by January 25, 2019 (early registration), or January 26-January 31, 2019 (late registration).
    • Information
      • To complete this part of the registration process you will need to know the anticipated number of students and chaperones who will eat in the Lander University Cafeteria.
      • The cafeteria is located in the Grier Student Center, adjacent to the Cultural Center where the festival is held.
      • Please call the choral festival staff, 864.388.8323, if you have any questions regarding meal reservations.
  • You may save your registration and return to it at any time before it is submitted.
  • Go to registration.

Before You Come

  • Your registration confirmation will contain the following information:
    • The festival schedule, including:
      • Your wardrobe change time (if applicable).
      • Your warm up time.
      • Your performance time.
      • Note: students will be escorted back to their wardrobe changing rooms immediately following their performance.
    • Confirmation of your meal reservation information (if applicable).
    • Parking information.
    • A copy of the adjudication form.
  • You can find festival information right here at choralinfo.org.
  • Prepare your music scores for the judges.
    • Each choir is required to bring three (3) sets of music with measures numbered for the festival judges. Any cuts in the music or deviations from the printed score must be clearly identified.
    • Scores are turned in at the registration table when you arrive at the festival.

When You Arrive

  • The registration table and help desk will be open one hour before the first choir performs.
  • Register for the day at the registration table.
    • Your registration packet will include name tags, schedules, and other important information for the day.
    • Each choir is required to bring three (3) sets of music with measures numbered for the festival judges. Any cuts in the music or deviations from the printed score must be clearly identified.
    • Register and turn in your music scores when you arrive in the Johnston Commons, the atrium of the Abney Cultural Center.
  • Choirs will perform between 10:00 pm and 8:00 pm in the Abney Cultural Center Auditorium.
  • Participating choirs are encouraged to spend time in the auditorium where they can:
    • Listen to performances and clinics by participating choirs.
    • Hear and learn from adjudicator/clinician remarks as these experts work with each choir.
    • Applaud the performances of other choirs.
    • Respectfully encourage and support this artistic learning process.
  • The Awards Ceremony will follow the last choral performance of the day.
  • The festival will conclude at approximately 8:00 pm or earlier.
  • Lander University will provide a digital copy of the adjudication recordings for each ensemble when the festival concludes.

Your performance

  • Choirs may perform a cappella or with piano accompaniment.
  • Please provide your own accompanist.
  • Choirs may perform two or three works: (a) one (1) warm-up piece and two (2) adjudicated works or (b) only two (2) adjudicated works.
  • Choirs will sing in an open clinic format with at least one of the judges for approximately 15 minutes following their performance. This format will be adjusted to fit the festival schedule. We will make every effort to have as much clinic time as the schedule allows.

After Your Performance

  • Students and chaperones are encouraged to remain in the Abney Cultural Center Auditorium to observe and enjoy other choral performances and clinics during the festival.
  • Lander University students may lead some fun activities with the audience between choral performances if time allows.
  • Awards will be presented at the conclusion of the festival. The festival is scheduled to end at 8:00 pm, but times are subject to change with the performance schedule.
